Spring 2020 Card Designs
This was a project I started with inspiration taken from the forests I loved visiting. When you visit a forest, there's so much to observe. With this project I wanted to remind people to look up from their phones and enjoy their surroundings again.
No headphones, no screens. Just the beauty that's there to see.
The reason I chose this format is because I intended on posting these on my Instagram Story.
What I find interesting about IG stories, is creating a memory after posting it. It makes it look like a digital picture book.

Different stages from the illustration
For this illustration I wanted to do a little experiment.
A good way to work on colour values is by turning on the grey tones. Instead of switching back and forth I left it on grey the entire time I coloured it. I picked random colours here and there to end up with a surprising result.
I simply wanted to make sure that the character would pop off the image and that things wouldn’t look flat.
Of course this gave me an interesting result (bottom left).
I then proceded to edit the colours to make him look healthier instead of a sick purple-ish hue. I then warmed up the tones of his skin.
In the end I removed the background to match it with the other illustration.
